DenniA's first €100 payout on Tribe of Noise

Last year we launched a paid service on Tribe of Noise for in-store music providers and companies in need for all rights included background music. Great Tribe music in restaurants, hotels, retail chains, stores, shops, fitness gyms etc. without the yearly performing rights licenses. After some serious testing and pilot projects it's fully operational and growing.

Last month we launched a tool for participating Tribe members, the Tribe calculator, to monitor their earnings and this month the first Tribe artist can hit the "Payout €100" button! Congratulations DenniA

It's time to ask DenniA some questions about Tribe of Noise and what he expects from us in the future.

Dennia
You made your first €100 with the in-store music service. First reaction/thoughts?
Pretty Amazing to say the least. I was not expecting anything like this but definitely a wonderful surprise. It is a great service indeed.

We are introducing a second Tribe revenue model at this moment (non exclusive exploitation). Are you interested?
I would definitely be interested.

Any thoughts you want to share with your fellow Tribe members?
Personally I find that being part of Tribe Of Noise has been a much greater experience than any other music site I've tried in the past. The ease of use and the wonderfully varied "tribes" of music spanning the globe being so readily accessible make for a great musical ride! Also, the atmosphere with fellow musicians creates a wonderful vibe and allows for new friendships and new creative partnerships. This can only be a good thing and I hope it will continue for years to come.

Any suggestions to me or the team?
I think you guys have been great in making Tribe Of Noise not just a wonderful tool for musicians to share and connect, but also an intuitive place to listen and get ideas from such a great variety of musical tastes. Much appreciated. Keep up the good work :)

Thanks! Talking about ideas and inspiration. Who or what inspires you, musically?
That's a huge question. I grew up with everything from Beethoven and Bach to Led Zeppelin and Beatles, as well as ELO, Smokie, Taj Mahal and everything inbetween. But I think Life in general is my biggest inspiration! The ups & downs of it, the ever-changing landscape of feelings and the continuous stream of lessons it provides on a daily basis.

If you could spend the evening with one famous musician who would it be, where would you go and why?
I think it would be John Lennon (if he were still alive). We would go sit on a boulder high up in the mountains and contemplate why the world is the way it is, and then write a song about it!

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
Still enjoying a quiet life with the wife and cats by the sea and hopefully writing and recording more music.

Gegroet, Hessel | visitekaartje

EasyJet, free cupcakes, Music 4.5 and Champagne

A special day starting with a free cupcake and ending with champagne and a pint of Guinness.

Flying from Amsterdam to London my day started with a big surprise. The 15th birthday of EasyJet. Time really flies! OMG, free cupcakes with a big "15" on top of it! Very symbolic too. EasyJet changed the aviation industry for good and I am on my way to the Music 4.5 Annual Conference where technology companies, music professionals and creative minds hope to have the same impact with their new ventures on the traditional music industry. Why not? Planes travel through air, just like sound.. LOL.

Arriving in London I found my way to Cafe de Paris, according to my friends in London a well known former night club. Wow, what a beautiful venue for a music conference.

Main_room

The mix of participants was refreshing: musicians, tech companies, labels, financial specialists, trend watchers and of course hungry start ups. In between the sessions I grabbed every opportunity to meet new people. And.. very cool to learn that some of the artists present are already using Tribe of Noise.

Great meetings and great finger food. "So Clive (SVP @ We7), tell me, how are doing?". Before he answered the question we were offered mini hamburgers. "Well, I am...". "Sir? Would you like a fancy looking sausage snack?". etc. etc. Catering: 12 points!

Loved the way Jeremy Silver (CEO, Featured Artists Coalition - FAC) guided us through a great day of knowledge sharing. And although the Dutch are known to be blunt I heard some sharp remarks from local musicians on stage like: "labels are amateurs in social media". The feedback from the audience regarding the Tribe of Noise case study I presented was overwhelming positive. So lots of thanks to the organization for inviting me over. I really enjoyed the opportunity.

More drinks and chats after the hilarious closing remarks by, again, Jeremy. Champagne! When is the next annual music 4.5 conference? In half a year? Oops, the alcohol is kicking in. Time to leave the building. Off to my friend for a pint of Guinness and a good night sleep.

HandBookLive.com is pleased to announce a partnership with Tribe of Noise

HandBookLive.com is pleased to announce a partnership with Tribe of Noise, a Netherlands-based organization which helps connect musicians with professionals who need music.  HandBookLive was introduced to the company when invited by the Dutch government to attend an international conference in Amsterdam last month.

The relationship between the two companies will allow HandBookLive’s vendors to request custom music from Tribe of Noise artists or use Creative Commons licensed music for free in their product videos. This alliance is one of several ways that HandBookLive has made it easy for companies to produce product and service video guides.

Formed in September 2010, the new partnership will allow HandBookLive corporate customers to purchase custom music economically or license existing music for free from Tribe of Noise. In turn, Tribe of Noise musicians will receive increased exposure and potentially new paid assignments through referrals from HandBookLive.com. An expansion of HandBookLive’s services to its business clients, the company also offers step-by-step guides for organizations that desire to produce a video, as well as a database of HandBookLive certified videographers across the country who are trained to produce educational product and service videos.

Laura Beken, Co-Founder and Vice President of HandBookLive.com, says, “Tribe of Noise’s passion to help musicians promote their work makes them a natural choice for HandBookLive. Our philosophies are very similar; we want to help businesses of all sizes succeed.”

Hessel van Oorschot, CEO of Tribe of Noise, states, “HandBookLive is a dynamic company with a great business sense and focus on consumer needs. We are very pleased that Tribe of Noise artists will gain increased exposure from this partnership with HandBookLive.”

Tribe of Noise @ Amstel Live! 2011

Dutch artists recommend Tribe Members some do’s and don’ts
by Jessie Brockhoff

Meeting New Friends at the line-up presentation of 'De Vrienden van Amstel LIVE! 2011' - one of the greatest musical events in The Netherlands, where over the past few years already 600,000 people enjoyed live music performed by only the best from the Dutch music industry.

100_0162c
from left to right: Alain Clark, Jessie (Tribe of Noise) and Miss Montreal

Tribe of Noise met the successful musicians performing at the 2011 edition of 'De Vrienden van Amstel LIVE!' And since Tribe of Noise is all about helping YOU to get exposure, we asked both of them to share some of their thoughts.

Miss Montreal

The appearance of MissMontreal in a television commercial in 2008 was the major breakthrough for this Dutch singer – now she is a true rising star and Tribe asked her how she experienced the start of her success:
I was taking singing lessons and my teacher knew a guy in the marketing world. The commercial was already there, they were looking for a girl with a guitar that could sing a few lines. I auditioned and they were so enthusiastic about the overall performance they decided to actually incorporate my performance in the commercial. After the commercial I was invited to sing at the hottest TV shows in The Netherlands, performed on an incredible of stages and all of the sudden was busy finding a manager. Participating in the commercial was something that absolutely boosted my carreer as a singer.

Tribe of Noise found out MissMontreal is a true Twitter fan. She mentions social media is an incredibly important tool to communicate with her audience.

It is so cool to see what you can do online and what the effect is of your tweets. It’s great to stay in touch with my fans this way – I always invite them for my shows through Twitter and they show up there, we have a chat. It’s a great tool to stay connected to your fanbase.

Alain Clark
Singer -Soul writer Alain Clarks debut album ‘Live it Out’ sold over 160.000 copies and his soul music is not only bought by the Dutch fans; he is a new soul legend in Italy, Switzerland and the UK as well. His latest record was nominated Record of the Week at BBC Radio 2 and this incredibly talented guy had the honor to perform with Lionel Richie and Diana Ross. His advice to YOU to get noticed:
Make sure you use ALL the opportunities generating exposure. It’s great to be in the studio recording wonderful tunes but make sure you let the world know who you are and what music you make. What Tribe of Noise does sounds incredibly cool for musicians looking for exposure!

More MissMontreal and Alain Clark?
Check out: www.missmontreal.nl and www.alainclark.nl

Tribe of Noise thanks them both for their input and recommendations, keep up the GREAT NOISE! And don't forget to mark your calendar: Amstel Live! 2011 -Ahoy, Rotterdam, The Netherlands - January 21, 22, 26-29.

Tribe of Noise's world premiere, PRO for Professionals

6,500 Musicians and composers ready to connect

Amsterdam | April 28, 2010

Tribe of Noise - finalist of The Next Web Paypal X Startup Rally - launched a brand new set of tools for professionals in need for pre cleared music. Tribe of Noise PRO combines an advanced music search engine with a virtual briefing center. 6,500 Musicians and composers are ready to collaborate with professionals in need for great music for video productions, tv series, corporate presentations, ad campaigns or video games.

While working on a video production a couple of years ago, the two  founders of Tribe of Noise encountered a major challenge: finding real  music from a real band (not stock music) to spice up their video. "We  were confronted with many copyright issues and procedures that limit the  use of music, increase production costs and slow down your time to  market", explains Sandra Brandenburg.

"We wondered why there are social communities like Flickr who are able  to effectively support professionals to find beautiful images and  connect with photographers worldwide, but no equivalent community  streamlining my production process and giving me the tools to gain  access to pre-cleared music and talented musicians?", adds Hessel van  Oorschot,

Advertisement agencies, television production companies, game & mobile  app developers demonstrated the real value of Tribe of Noise over the  last 2 years. And 6,500 talented composers and musicians joined and are  ready to share music and collaborate.

Our clients are amazed by the quality of the music. Common misconception  is that our Tribe members are only young artists at the beginning of  their career. In fact it's an interesting mix of young new talent and  veterans who have won industry awards, who are recognized by many  professionals in different industries already and are motivated to  discover new ways of getting exposure and making money the 2.0 way.

"With the launch of Tribe of Noise PRO we help professionals to save  time and money, we support the music industry with online business  opportunities and enable artists to connect with businesses in need for  music."

Hessel concludes: "PRO should be their new home page, it's that  simple".
